Killer Mullet Rallye Team

The Killer Mullet Rallye Team is approaching 25yrs and as with all milestones it is a time for some reflection. To ponder the last 25yrs and ask "Why?"

The 'why' is easy! Rallying has to be the king of motorsport - no runoff areas, no catch fencing, no grandstands - just dirt roads, trees, and loads of courage. The same applies to rally spectators as well - why else would they drive to locations in the middle of nowhere, walk along rough forest tracks for a single glimpse of these forest racers.

With the 'why' out of the way it leaves just pondering the last quarter century and what was it about rallying that got you hooked in the first place. We can go right back to the 50's and 60's with the reliability trials and the round Australia events, but in those days the real test was just to finish. Then along comes the 70's and the muscle cars, not just the V8 GT's but the smaller performance cars built strong and reliable just right for rallying - Ford Escorts, Datsun 1600's etc. The time was right to bring Rallying to the general public not just enthusiasts.

It was during this period that some of the classic events reigned supreme- The Bega Valley Rally, The Alpine Rally, The Castrol Rally, and of course The Southern Cross Rally - to name but a few.

It was a time of the potent Group G cars that were powerful, noisy and exciting - and the drivers that were able to tame them.

This is the Killer Mullet Rallye Teams' tribute to that era . Starting with:
